Introduction

Jagadish Chandra Bose (Bose) was one of the pioneers in the field of Indian scientific research. He contributed enormously to the field of science. He was the first Indian to receive widespread appreciation and acknowledgement for his research work from the western countries. He was elected as a fellow of the prestigious “Royal Society of England” in the year 1920 . With the objective of encouraging and fostering research activities in the field of science, Bose established a research institute, Bose Institute, in Calcutta (Now Kolkata), in the year 1917 .

Since its establishment, Bose institute was endeavoring to provide an opportunity to the researchers to fulfill their dreams and aspirations and to contribute for the development of the society.
