Abstract

This report studies the knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) activities in the Indian pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry. It examines the evolution and the present status of contract research in India. The report explores the advantages India has over other countries in the field of research and development (R&D) of drugs. It details the activities of major players in the contract research industry in India including Quintiles Spectral (India) Limited, Syngene International Private Limited, Clinigene International Private Limited and Vimta Labs. The report also highlights the weaknesses of the industry players and the measures taken by the Government of India to make the country as an outsourcing hub in drugs R&D.
