Abstract
This case is about Marriott International Inc.’s ‘Spirit to Preserve’ campaign launched in April 2008, through which the global hotel chain was taking various initiatives including greening of its Supply Chain. The greening effort was a facet of the five-point environmental campaign which it launched under its Spirit to Preserve philosophy. Marriott engaged its network of vendors in providing price-neutral solutions toward extending its environment-friendly strategies to bedding, stationery, hardware, laundry, etc. — products which were used in its owned and managed properties worldwide. Though it was commended for its efforts, Marriott was also criticized for limiting most environment conservation measures to its headquarters at Bethesda, USA.
