Abstract
The case ‘CadilaPharma Leverages Digital Platforms for its L&D Programs’ describes the varioustraining programs conducted by CadilaPharma for its fresh recruits, middle and senior managers, and the sales force. CadilaPharma conducted training programs for middle to senior level managers on a regular basis through Learn2Lead, a leadership development program. It introduced a sales force training program, an extension of the Cadila Young Leadership Program (CYLP) initiated in 2016, aimed at providing tools and techniques for ‘on the ground’ requirements such as presentation and communication skills. The case then looks at how the company began to adapt its L&D efforts to align with its digital initiatives beginning with the use of Whatsapp to conduct L&D programs for its sales force. Since the sales function was a challenging field, the company had to ensure that its workforce kept uptodate with the latest developments in medicine and gained the caliber to interact with medical professionals, dealers, and consumers. The company’s learning through WhatsApp initiative came in for recognition with Cadila Pharma winning two Tata Institute of Social Science-Leapvault CLO awards in 2019 for ‘Program for Sales Enablement’ and ‘Social Media Based Learning Program’. The case finally looks at the learning initiatives taken up for the sales force amid the COVID-19 pandemic as part of the company’s digitaliztion efforts.
