With increasing digital dependence, the manufacturing sector, especially the automobile industry, is becoming a soft target for cyber criminals and ransomware attacks. Cyber-attacks create supply chain disruptions, disturbing production, supply, and delivery schedules; leading to job losses; escalating delivery times; and causing economic turbulence. The case study delves into diverse perspectives, analyzes operational implications, and examines the delicate balance between digital technologies, the manufacturing sector automation, supply chain efficiency, employment, and the economy of a nation. It provides valuable insights into the complexities of cyber security in the automobile manufacturing sector and its profound impact on global supply chain management. The case can be used to teach supply chain digitalization challenges and threats, cyber resilience, cybersecurity protocols in IT and Systems, International Business, and Supply Chain Management courses.
