Abstract

Ashok Leyland, India’s second largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, was facing a challenging time entering Fiscal Year 2013-14. Since 2011, the management of Ashok Leyland had been focusing on improving the company’s operational performance by taking up various initiatives like cost reduction and undertaking organizational restructuring.

This case enables students to analyze loss making firms and allows a discussion on Ratio analysis, DuPont analysis, Common-size, and Common-base financial statements.
