Players controlled the game characters like racing cars or fighting monsters on a TV screen. Usually, a home video game system consisted of three types of components, a gaming console, controllers and cartridges... The PS-XOn December 3, 1994, the first PlayStation console popularly called as the PS-X was released in Japan, one week after the release of Sega Saturn. The initial retail price was Y 37,000, about $387. Software available at the time of the launch included King's Field, Crime Crackers, and Namco's Ridge Racer, the PS-X's first certifiable killer-app... The Launch of PS- 2Sony announced the launch of PS-2, the successor to PS-X, on March 4 2000 in Japan, on October 26th in North America and about a month later in Europe. This console was a technological improvement over its predecessor... The Road AheadAs 2003 drew to a close, a new competitor was aggressively expanding its presence in the games market. Microsoft's gaming console, the X-Box was released in November 2001.
