Pinduoduo, based in Shanghai, China, was launched in 2015 as an agriculture related e-business. It brought cultivators and customers on to the same platform. Shoppers could meet the suppliers online, see the products on livestream, and agree on the price. Later, the company started selling white-labeled goods at low and subsidized prices.
