Climate change had impacted the small farmers and they faced problems such as water scarcity, extreme weather changes, pest infestations, droughts, and heavy rainfall. All these climatic conditions impacted the cultivation process and contributed to farm distress. According to a study by the government body NITI Aayog which was released in 2018, 600 million Indians faced water stress due to water scarcity. By 2030, the demand for water in India was expected to be double its availability. Due to the acute water shortage, by 2050, India would lose six percent of its GDP.
