VGS was born in the year 1959 in the Chikmagalur District of Karnataka (India) in a well-off business family that had been in the coffee growing business since 1870. VGS had a happy childhood; he studied in a boarding school but was always delighted to come back home for the holidays to the sumptuous home-made food cooked by his mother.
