GE Healthcare, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA, was a longstanding subsidiary of multinational conglomerate General Electric, before it became a standalone company in 2019.
The history of GE Healthcare dates back to 1893, when C.F. Samms and J.B. Wantz founded the Victor Electric Company (Victor). In 1895, Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the X-Ray. This encouraged GE to start developing products in this area. It made electrostatic generators for X-Ray tubes and electrotherapeutic devices.
