Japan was known for being one of the world’s most seismically active regions, with 100,000 earthquakes hitting the country every year. The country had a long history of earthquakes and had witnessed many disasters due to its location. Being situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire , the subduction of the Philippine Sea plate beneath the Okinawa plate and Amurian plate had led to a series of several high-intensity earthquakes in Japan.
