Mobile games contributed significantly to the high growth rate of mobile data use. Globally, the mobile game industry generated US$24.4 billion in revenue in 2014, out of which US$17 billion was attributed to smartphone gaming and the remaining US$7.4 billion to tablet gaming. The total figure was expected to grow to more than US$44.2 billion by 2018. By the end of year 2015, Personal Computer (PC) games revenue was US$36.3 billion, mobile games revenue was US$24.7 billion, and console games revenue stood at US$3.6 billion in the global digital games market.
