In the early 2000s, when internet-based businesses were just opening up in India, Vasupal began his stint with business by developing websites for small companies. The beginning proved promising and Vasupal earned a comfortable revenue stream of $ 4500 per quarter. Given the uncertainty in internet businesses, however, Vasupal decided to move on to something bigger and more independent and sustainable. The idea and initiative to start a firm occurred to Vasupal in 2003 when he acquired a deeper understanding of the online business models and segments. After combing through various avenues like books e-tailing and real estate classifieds, he, along with his colleagues, Sachit Singhi (Singhi) and Rupal Surana (Surana), narrowed down their focus to the hospitality industry.
