Introduction
On January 23, 2023, US-based multinational technology company Amazon.com. Inc. (Amazon) launched its dedicated air cargo network – Amazon Air – in Hyderabad, India. Amazon Air was expected to help in servicing more same-day and next day deliveries for Amazon Prime (Prime) users. Consequently, India became the third market in which Amazon Air had been launched. Speaking about the reasons for choosing India for Amazon Air’s foray into Asia, Sarah Rhoads (Rhoads), Vice President, Amazon Air, commented, “In partnership with the India leadership team, we chose India because it is one of a few countries in Asia that has a dedicated marketplace with fulfillment centers spread around the country. So, there is inventory across the country that we want to be able to offer our customers in two days or less.”..
