Agthia traced its origins to 'Grand Mills' founded by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (Sheikh Zayed) , an Emirati politician and member of the Al Nahyan , who were the ruling family of the UAE. Grand Mills began its operations in 1978 with a few flour mills. By 1981, the company had forayed into animal feeds manufacturing. The company's mission was to ensure food security and create sustainable communities in the region.
