About Cochin International Airport Limited

Cochin International Airport was a novel venture in the history of civil aviation in India. This was the first International Airport in India, which was built outside the ambit of the Government of India. The airport was owned by Cochin International Airport Limited, a public limited company in which the Government of Kerala was the single largest shareholder. It cost Rs.2.3 billion and six years to complete, and was dedicated to the nation by President K R Narayanan on May 25, 1999. It started commercial operations in June 1999..
