The Rise & Fall of A Tech Giant
Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates (Gates) and Paul Allen. In the 1980s, Microsoft entered into a partnership with IBM to provide the DOS operating system for IBM PCs. For much of the 1990s and early 2000s, Microsoft remained the acknowledged leader of the technology industry. Under the capable leadership of Gates, the company transformed personal computing with Windows and Office, leading both the consumer and enterprise software markets. By the year 2000, Microsoft had a market capitalization of over $600 billion, which made it the most valuable company in the world at the time. (Lohr, 2020)..
