On January 30, 2020, the state of Kerala in southern India became the first state in the country to report a positive case of the novel corona virus – COVID-19. Over the next few days, two more cases were reported. After these three cases, no case was reported for around a month. By mid-February, all three patients had recovered and had even been discharged from hospital. However, by the last week of March, the number of cases had reached 100 plus. On March 23, 2020, a day before the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, announced a 21-day lockdown, the Government of Kerala (GoK) declared a 28-day lockdown. It was during this time that the Ministry of Health and Social Justice, GoK, under the leadership of K. K.
