INTRODUCTION |

On January 2019, SunCulture, a Kenya-based start-up which develops and commercializes life-changing technology to solve the biggest challenges smallholder farmer’s households face on a daily basis, introduced its second generation RainMaker2, a solar-powered irrigation pump with the ClimateSmart feature based on the ‘Internet of Things (IoT). RainMaker2 used a revolutionary technology in water pumping which the 570 million smallholder farming families around the world would find affordable, practical, and would enable them to boost productivity. At the launch of RainMaker2, Samir Ibrahim (Samir), SunCulture’s Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, said, “The AgOptimized IoT platform is a significant step towards that, representing the first time that these precision agriculture services are available to smallholder farmers in Africa, and we’re excited to be leading these innovations.” ..
