Introduction
In February 2015, Anne Boden (Anne), founder and CEO of Starling Bank (Starling), a digital bank in the UK, was at her office contemplating resigning and quitting from her startup due to an unexpected turn of events. Anne’s Chief Technology Officer, Tom Blomfield (Tom), along with some directors had quit the startup and gone on to set up another digital bank named Monzo due to some differences of opinion between her and Tom. After several days of deliberation, Anne finally decided that she would not resign. Showing immense resilience, she took charge and went on to grow her startup into one of the fastest growing digital banks in the UK.
