Starbucks was the brainchild of English teacher Jerry Baldwin (Baldwin), history teacher Zev Siegl, and writer Gordon Bowker (Bowker). They opened the first Starbucks store in 1971 in Pike Place Market, Seattle and called it Starbucks Coffee, Tea and Spice.
