Background
In the early 1900s, three oil majors, Royal Dutch, Shell, and Rothschild’s, got together to form Asiatic Petroleum. In 1928, Asiatic Petroleum joined hands with another producer, refiner, and distributor of petroleum products in India and Burma called Burmah Oil Company to form Burmah Shell. This company started operating in India in 1928, importing and distributing kerosene.
