Introduction

In 2019, US-based conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway (Berkshire) was all set to celebrate the 89th birthday of its celebrity Chairman and CEO, Warren Buffett (Buffett), known for his investment philosophy which had made him the third richest person in the world. However, there was an underlying sense of apprehension over the future of Berkshire, the fifth largest company in the S&P Index, with respect to its leadership and performance.
