About Google

Started in 1998 by Larry Page (Page) and Sergey Brin (Brin) as a research project to organize an internet search engine, Google took giant strides and became a company that owned a host of apps, tools, and Internet-related services and products. The funding from venture capital firms Kleiner Perkins Caufield& Byers helped the company grow rapidly. It came out with several new products, and the revenues too increased. In 2004, the company went public via an initial public offering, and revenue for the year reached US$3.2 billion. Over the years, the company made many acquisitions. In 2005, Google acquired mobile phone software company, Android, which turned out to be one of the best acquisitions the company had ever made. In 2006, Google acquired YouTube for US$1.65 billion. In 2008, it launched Google Chrome, its web browser. By 2010, Google’s revenue had grown to $29.3 billion. (Refer to Exhibit I for more details on Revenue). Between 2011 and 2015, other big deals that Google made included the acquisition of Motorola Mobility, Quickoffice, and Nest Labs..
