In May 2022, American online content streaming and production company Netflix Inc. (Netflix) released an updated version of its culture memo titled, ‘Netflix Culture – Seeking Excellence’, in the wake of stringent criticism from employees and the public about its comedy special, The Closer. In the show, comedian Dave Chappelle (Chappelle) made jokes against transgender people that riled a lot of people. However, Netflix refused to heed employees’ calls to take down the special from its service.
