Falguni Nayar-Redefining the Online Beauty Space in India

Nayar was born on February 19, 1963, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, in a Gujarati family. Her father owned a small ball bearings company, in which her mother assisted. Growing up in a business environment was an important part of Nayar’s life as it taught her the nitty-gritty of commerce — investment, stock market, insurance. Nayar graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics. After completing her Master’s from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad, she started her career as a management consultant at A.F. Ferguson & Co . She married Sanjay Nayar whom she met as a student at IIM in May 1987. Later, he became the CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co (KKR) .
