| In December 2018, Bindeshwar Pathak (Pathak), social entrepreneur and founder of India-based social service organization Sulabh International (Sulabh), was chosen as The Weekend Leader – VIT Person of the Year (2018) in recognition of his immense service to the field of sanitation. In his acceptance speech after receiving the award, Pathak said that Sulabh not only liberated manual scavengers from the inhuman task of cleaning night soil but also restored their dignity to them by rehabilitating them by training the women and children in different skills..
