Introduction
By 2023, Sero Lease and Finance Ltd. (SELFINA), a social enterprise which provided micro-leasing services to the marginalized women in Tanzania, had provided 25,000 leases and had made a positive impact on the lives of 440,000 people, providing US$22 million in credit. In addition to this, the company had helped 200,000 people in Tanzania come out of poverty. However, social entrepreneur, founder and Managing Director of SELFINA, Victoria Kisyombe (Kisyombe) faced the challenge of having sufficient financial resources to fund her venture since demand for its leased assets exceeded the company’s ability to finance the assets. Amidst funding challenges, SELFINA planned to expand geographically to serve more women entrepreneurs with their micro-leasing business model..
