INTRODUCTION

In January 2018, one of Brazil’s leading retailers for household and electrical goods, Magazine Luiza S.A. (Magalu), announced that it would invest R$ 250 million over the year on technology, expanding storage space at ports (logistics), and inaugurating new stores. This was a 40% increase in investment when compared to the previous year’s R$ 180 million. Federico Trajano (Federico), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Magalu, said, “It is a substantially higher value considering the improvement of the economic environment and the results we have achieved.
