About Nike
In the late 1950s, Phil Knight (Knight), a track and field athlete at University of Oregon, US, received training from head track coach Bill Bowerman (Bowerman), who himself had been an athlete in his younger days. For a long time, Bowerman had been dissatisfied with the clumsiness of American running shoes and so he had constantly occupied himself with designing and experimenting with athletes’ shoes. Knight used to be among the first to test Bowerman’s shoe modifications.
