About Zomato

Zomato’s history could be traced back to the time when Goyal, an alumnus of IIT Delhi , was working with Bain and Company (Bain) in New Delhi, India, as a Management Consultant. He noticed that during lunch, people in his office queued up every day to look for menus from different restaurants to order food. The idea of providing access to food menus online then struck him. He decided to scan restaurant menus and upload them on the company intranet of Bain. Soon, he started his own company in New Delhi under the name Foodiebay.com with the menus of 1,200 restaurants in Delhi/the National Capital Region displayed on the website. The website provided in-depth information, including reviews and ratings by people who had already visited the restaurant, to help the users make a well- informed decision before visiting..
