The origins of Nissan dates back to 1933, when Jidosha Seizo Co. Ltd., the predecessor of Nissan, was formed in Yokohama. In 1934, the company changed its name to Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. Soon after, the automaker started producing automobiles in Japan.
The same year – 1934 – Nissan started exporting its car brand Datsun to Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. In 1935, the company’s fully integrated assembly plant became functional.
