Introduction

Since 2007, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, S.A. (BBVA), a Spanish multinational financial services company and one of the largest financial institutions in the world with assets of 753 billion euro, had launched various initiatives under its digital transformation program. In mid-2016, it adopted Design Thinking (DT) in its different business areas worldwide. (Refer to Exhibit I for a Note on DT). BBVA believed that the implementation of DT would help the bank to promote new ideas and encourage the participation of the entire team in generating ideas. It would also promote collaboration within the team and exposure to new ideas.
