Introduction

In December 2023, India-based recycling company Gravita India Limited (GIL) announced that it had started commercial production of Recycled Polypropylene Granules at its new plastic recycling facility in Tanzania, East Africa. Based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, North West of India, GIL was incorporated in 1992. Starting as a welding and surface coating company, GIL later ventured into manufacturing recycled lead-based products from used batteries, and went on to become one of the top lead recycling companies in the Asian region. It then began recycling of other materials like aluminum and plastic. With the vision of becoming the most valuable company in the space of recycling globally, the management of GIL defined a long term goal of being among the top five global players in the industry.
