Introduction
In June 2018, emerging Chinese power-bank rental startup Laidian Technology Co. Ltd. (Laidian), achieved major success when it won a patent infringement lawsuit against its competitor Shenzhen Jiedian Technology Co. (Jiedian). The Beijing Intellectual Property Court ordered Jiedian to stop the selling of products that used the patents held by Laidian and pay a compensation of 2 million yuan to the plaintiff. As a pioneer in the portable power bank rental services in China, Laidian focused on growing and protecting its 78 patents which covered more than 120 items in the domestic as well international markets as of 2018. According to Yuan Binsong (Yuan), Founder and CEO of Laidian, "The victory verdict of the case acknowledges and protects Laidian's intellectual property rights and also enhances our brand value as well as our competitive advantage against other industry players. We will continue to increase our investment in intellectual property rights in the future and further expand our service."..
