Introduction

Kickstarter, PBC, (Kickstarter) an American public benefit corporation, embraced the four-day workweek in 2022. The Brooklyn, New York-based crowdfunding platform, established in 2009, decided to make the shift during the Covid-19 pandemic, when remote work offered employees newfound flexibility. This shift was aimed at providing its employees with enhanced flexibility to better integrate their personal and professional lives. Further, the company made the remote work shift permanent in 2021. As the company transitioned to a fully remote model, Kickstarter’s leadership recognized an opportunity to go further. Under the guidance of Chief Strategy Officer Jon Leland (Leland), the company decided to partner with 4 Day Week Global in 2021 to pilot a four-day, 32-hour workweek.
