Shopify Inc. was a platform using which anyone could set up an online store to sell their products (Exhibit I). It had customers in 175 countries from across the globe .

Shopify Inc. was founded by Tobias Lütke (Lütke) and Scott Lake (Lake). In 2004, Lütke and Lake started an online store called Snowdevil to sell snowboarding equipment. The duo did not find the e-commerce platforms that existed during that time satisfactory.
