Evita Fernandez: Her Story

Evita was born into a family of doctors. Her parents Leslie and Lourdes Fernandez started Fernandez Hospital in 1948 with only two beds. Inspired by her parents, Evita decided to become a doctor at the age of eight since she was sure that she wanted to ‘look after pregnant women who bring babies into this world’. “That was the only subject I wanted to study even in college though for some reason I didn’t get my highest marks in obstetrics,” she stated. Further, Evita, who had seen her parents struggling to manage their responsibilities as doctors and caregivers to their four children, chose to remain single so that her only passion would be her work..
