Introduction
On February 6, 2023, at 4:17 am (local time), a massive earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck southern Turkey near the Syrian border. After a gap of nine hours, another earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred in the southwest region of Turkey. The event termed the Kahramanmaras earthquake had an impact on 11 provinces of Turkey where nearly 14 million people lived. The earthquakes and the subsequent tremors caused widespread devastation, killing 50,000 people and injuring 108,000 others. , Millions were forced to take shelter in tents or move to other cities.
