Introduction
In November 2016, the market leader in genome sequencing machines, Illumina Inc. (Illumina), announced that it was entering into a partnership with Mayo Clinic to combine their services and software in order to develop new tools that would support the latter’s research into inherited diseases. In addition, Mayo Clinic intended to test Illumina’s next-gen tools and provide feedback to help the company in its ongoing product development.
