Antony was founded by Jose Jacob Kallarakal (Jose), a mechanical engineering graduate from Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Engineering, University of Mumbai, in the year 2001. Jose also completed a leadership program from Harvard Business School, Boston. The motivation for Jose to enter municipal solid waste management business rose from the roots of his family business. Jose’s family was involved in the automobile body building business. They developed garbage compactors for the management of municipal solid waste by the municipalities. The garbage compactors were better than the usual dumpers in terms of the number of laborers required and capacity to handle the garbage. Identifying the need of the municipalities, Jose formally entered into the business of municipal solid waste management.
