Introduction
In August 2020, Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), announced a deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop a Mobility Services Platform that would help manage and monetize data gathered from TMC’s global vehicle fleet. The new platform was expected to enable TMC to process and analyze data that could be used to develop vehicle services from ride and car sharing to behaviour-based insurance and maintenance notifications.
Through the years, TMC had employed several Information Systems (IS) in its production process and sales and distribution networks to provide better products and services to its customers. TMC standardized all business application systems and made good use of information. It was one of the first automobile organizations to utilize multiple Management Information Systems (MIS) to address various Information Technology (IT) related issues.
